Walks on the Voorlinden estate and in the Wassenaar Dunes
A walk during the May bank holiday is the perfect outing for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. The Voorlinden estate is situated on the edge of the Wassenaar dunes and is open to the public. Around the museum, you can stroll through the Piet Oudolf Garden, a unique garden featuring over fifty varieties of perennials and ornamental grasses that is well worth a visit all year round.
From the museum, you can take a walk of about 45 minutes through woods, dune meadows and the Voorlinden dune area. On a clear day, the highest dune offers views of the North Sea, and along the way you’ll come across Anselm Kiefer’s impressive towers.
The unpaved path eventually leads you back to the museum – perfect for combining a walk with a bit of culture during the May bank holiday.
Dogs are welcome on the estate, provided they are kept on a lead to protect wildlife and birds.
